National Read a Book Day: Autumn Book Recommendations You Won't Want To Put Down

Hurrah. With our calendars turned over to September, us fall fanatics can finally begin to enjoy rainy walks in worn wellington boots, cosy evenings by the fire and movie marathons in our pyjamas. But as we welcome Autumn with open arms, the everyday hustle and bustle of life can still prove finding the time to escape into the world of words is one of rare luxury. National Read a Book Day, celebrated annually on September 6th, offers a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the magic of literature.

The day serves as a gentle reminder for us to pause, reflect, and immerse ourselves in stories of magic and mayhem. As well as its page-turning addictiveness, studies have found that reading offers a plethora of mental and physical benefits. Of course just the smell of a book can feel like a warm hug, but reading can also reduce stress and help prevent cognitive decline by keeping our brains stimulated.
